Sometimes it freezes when VLC is active, sometimes it freezes when VLC is not running. Same with samba, mysql, and so on. The last freeze was 1.5 hour ago. This manifests using bcc-tool `tcpconnect`, but can also be reproduced by simply calling: bpftrace -e 'kprobe:tcp_connect { printf("test"); }' and then attempting TCP connection (ie. `ssh localhost`) - the connection hangs forever and kernel oops is logged. I can always reproduce this on 2 physical machines with AMD CPUs (AMD Ryzen 5 3600). The commit causing the problem seems to be: 91f63647a6911fb5cd4799f8fd170310a2ceb064 x86/bugs: Add AMD retbleed= boot parameter (bsc#1199657 CVE-2022-29900 CVE-2022-29901). To confirm this, I have tried booting with retbleed=off - that makes the problem disappear even on 5.14.21-150400.24.18.
