Feature #316634, revision 1
Title: Change HISTCONTROL default value to ignoredups
openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed
Priority
Requester: Important
Requested by: Jorge Vallecillo (altmas5)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org
Description:
The default value of HISTCONTROL bash enviroment variable should be changed to ignoredups instead of ignoreboth. ignoreboth includes ignorespace, which is a security flaw allowing users to type sensitive commands supressing them from bash_history file and leaving no auditing clue. OpenSUSE should set the tone compared to other distros giving importance needed to security details like these.
Business case (Partner benefit):
openSUSE.org: Security by default. Minimize risks. Identify malicious users.

Would it be possible to package Obnam for openSUSE? http://liw.fi/obnam/ It is a highly advanced backup/versioning control system with de-duplication. It is packaged for CentOS and Debian already.
Thanks!

Feature #312047, revision 1
Title: make repo keys available on project's web site via SSL
Buildservice: Unconfirmed
Priority
Requester: Desirable
Requested by: John McInnes (jamjamjamjam)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org
Description:
I was thinking of a way to get repo keys to users in a secure fashion, so they can have some measure of trust, instead of just blindly accepting/importing new keys when installing software. Personally, before accepting a key, I will usually try to google it by ID or fingerprint, search various gpg key servers, ask on a mailing list or newsgroup for 3rd party verification, etc... its a pain in the ***.
So I see that the buildservice provides a https interface to project pages. It would be a nice feature to provide the project repo keys there. At least show ID and fingerprint.

Description:
There are requests to remove the warning about a missing swap device from the expert partitioner for systems with only SSDs. I want to go one step further and remove the warning altogether since RAM has increased so much in the past.

Feature #312137, revision 1
Title: Equivalent of nvidia-settings for Nouveau
openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed
Priority
Requester: Desirable
Requested by: Audard Guillaume (agui)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org
Description:
The open source driver for Nvidia GPU, Nouveau, is more and more performant. It is already fully usable instead of the proprietary driver. However, there is no GUI to configure display. SaX2 module is not available anymore in YaST in openSUSE 11.4, and there is no way to make modifications such as defining the dpi.
Developping an equivalent of nvidia-settings for Nouveau would push even more users to switch to open source drivers.

Feature #310706, revision 1
Title: zypper: allow to adjust proposed solver solution
openSUSE-11.4: Unconfirmed
Priority
Requester: Desirable
Requested by: Ján Kupec (jkupec)
Description:
It would be nice if it would be possible to change the solver solution at the point when the installation summary is shown and zypper prompts whether to continue. This would allow the user to conveniently remove unwanted packages automatically chosen for installation, add another package, etc. This is especially needed if it is difficult to work one's way to the solution (in case of many dependency problems, e.g. during an upgrade).
Removing, adding, and keeping an installed version of a package could be implemented as part of this feature request first. Further enhancements can be done later.
Use Case:
During a dist-upgrade, user goes through a lot of solver problems. Then sees something unwanted in the summary. Currently the only solution is to quit, lock a package or change some command line options, restart the dist-upgrade and go through all the painfull solving again. With this feature the user would have a good chance of changing the summary in a convenient way.
