Look at Fedora. They dropped Core and Extras and made it one big distribution, then all the dag, livna and freshrpms combined into rpmfusion.org. This is what should / needs to happen with openSUSE. For someone who is used to doing it, this is probably not that big of a deal. To someone who is used to installing Windows and having to scour the Internet for drivers, it's not that big of deal. To someone coming from using mostly Fedora, Ubuntu or Debian, this is HUGE. Fedora is simple, add rpmfusion.org and probably the adobe yum repository and you have access to everything from drivers to flash. In Debian, just enable non-free and contrib, then the debian-multimedia (for mplayer, mythtv etc) and you're all set. Ubuntu really only needs medibuntu repositories and you can get everything you need for a decent setup. openSUSE has a ton that need to be enabled. Emulators, Pacman, nvidia, etc. While it is nice and simple that you have a 'one click' install for most things, it still would be easier / simpler to just run 'zypper install atari800' without having to add the Emulator repository. Normally long running jobs get into trouble as soon as their tickets expire. The tools in the kstart package allow users to start long running jobs and be sure that the jobs will always have access to the filesystem. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: We do not want to extend the normal kerberos ticket lifetime for security reasons. However we have some jobs that run for weeks and that need access to the AFS filesystem. For that to work it listens on a tcp port and uses avahi for discovery of others. The Bonjour account isn't enabled by default though. Users have to manually add it which means barely anyone actually does that. Kind of defeats the 'zeroconf' idea. If I uninstall this package, hplip-hpijs is automatically marked for install. If I uncheck that package as well and Accept the changes via YaST2 Software Management these packages are removed. However the next time I start Software Management hplip-hpijs is checked to be installed again. The only way to stop this behavior is to mark both packages as Taboo. Shouldn't I be able to remove packages that are not needed without having to jump through hoops to make sure they do not get installed again.
