[opensuse-factory] New Audio applet in Plasma 5.4
Hi Does anyone know how you can mute sound with this new applet without turning down the volume to zero? With kmix it was just a right click and select "Mute" regards Ian -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I have Tw and up-to-date. I have seen no "new applet that is a replacement for kmix". So I now know no more that I did before.

Cannot click on Knurpht-Gertjan Lettink's reply nor a speaker left of any slider. I do have a "speaker" icon in the System Tray, but believe it is kmix. And a search of Knurpht-Gertjan Lettink's posts provides nothing related that I can discern. wtf are you talking about? You have provided no information that gives me any direction. The sun went down! Save yourself making an explanation. Francesco's post shows it is plasma5-pa which is not installed on my system. After installing it I see no advantage over kmix unless kmix is deprecated and removed it. I have pav which has same functions, anyway. The sun will rise again, hopefully. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

:o) Unfortunately its a bare minimum app with regards to information, its just called "Audio Volume", there is nothing about the description of the app in config dialog to help either, i.e. no author, no "About" info at all -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Click on the speaker icon left of the output source. thanks. Is there anyway to get a % volume displayed with a mouse over? The icon displayed in the middle of the screen doesn't show the same display as you move the slider up and down, you can get the icon on the taskbar to have 3 ")" in bold with the centre icon only showing 2 ")" as bold. And is there a way to stop the icon displaying in the middle of the screen, it seems unnecessary on a desktop machine to me. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Please file a bug upstream: depending on how PA is configured on different systems, it may be difficult to find a solution that pleases everyone, but at least from a technical POV it *should* be doable.

File a separate report for this issue, too. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: A29D259B -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Ok, will do. Do they go under the category of "plasmashell"? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Ignore my last 2 emails. I've list the bugs/wishes on "plasma-pa", hopefully thats correct. I'll also report a strange effect here but in practice shouldn't happen. Here is some background. I've got 2 playback devices (not sure how) listed in "Audio Volume", "High definition Audio Controller digital Ster.." and "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" Built-in Audio Analog Stereo. Kmix says 2 "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo devices". I have both kmix and Audio Volume loaded on the taskbar. If i mute the High Definition on the "Audio Volume" icon, it changes the "Audio Volume" icon to show its muted which is correct. If i mute the Built-in Analog on the "Audio Volume" icon, it changes the "kmix" icon to show its muted and the "Audio Volume" stays unmuted. If i quit kmix and mute the Builtin Analog, it does mute the sound but the icon does not show muted. I'll report these on plasma-pa -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

The "High definition Audio Controller digital Ster.." is probably your graphics card's HDMI output. You should see it in systemsettings5->Multimedia->Audio and Video->Configure Audio Hardware too (in the "Soundcard" chooser).
Kmix says 2 "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo devices".
No, it doesn't. It only shows *one* "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo device". But it shows two volume controls for the default sound card: one for the *playback* volume and one for the *capture* (recording) volume. If you hover your mouse over the slider, you should notice... I've always stuck to the analog as i've only got a couple of mini speakers.
