We can start with prepared packages for it:

Could be that some of the dropped packages really should be kept dropped ;-)
But I'm sure that's not true for all. One example which come to my mind
is synergy. I have no idea why it was dropped (hint, hint) but probably
because it's more or less unmaintained but so far nobody was able to
point me to a "supported" replacement.

As you know out of pure interest nothing gets done. I'm sure there are
many people interested in world-peace :)

Thats what I'm saying! Get your stuff in there and the we figure the
rest[1] out.
Time has shown that the other approach (figuring everything out before
we package in that repo) failed miserably.
Get going. I will :)

How about going through the list of dropped packages since 10.3 or 11.0?
Probably there are candidates (I know there is at least one I really
want to see in Contrib) before dropping even more from Factory ;-)

Problem: There is work to be done
Solution: Someone needs to work on it
Apparently no one has any real interest in doing it. Otherwise someone
would step up.
There really is no need to iterate over the same point over and over and
over again. Every repo lives and dies with its packagers. There is no
one interested in packaging for Contrib. Everybody says its a good idea
and that somebody should do it but apparently nobody does.
Or to give it a bit more positive spin:
If you want to work on Contrib and make this repo alive then get in
contact with Pascal or Coolo who are the current maintainers of this
project and package for it. Everything else we can figure out later.
