No, I do not have screenshot as printscreen capture does not work. The typed command works and prints correctly, though. * When I move the mouse, icons and entries are highlighted, as if the button was pressed. * gnome control panel entries do not redraw till I move the mouse all over the window. Everything works the moment I disable compiz. System has been just installed, this is first use, with 11.3 M5 i586 (hardware is x64 but M5-x64 has been reported broken). Detailed description: At first I got no top panel on the window (="window decoration"?). The small graphic buttons came only later as I go into the menues. As I reduced the features in the CompizConfig Settings Manager I got the top panel back again. When I chose a second register card with compiz turned on I am first not able to see the content of that card. I see the content of that second only after I have chosen a third card or have moved the hole window. In compiz I am not able to turn Wobbing Windows or Minimize Effect off. Compare/See Also: The actual Ubuntu 10.4 seems to have problems with some intern intel graphic/intel onbord graphic, too. Solution/Workaround (?): At least should compiz be turned off by default in 11.3 if the problem is not fixed in the final release. Your 'screen painting' issue should be solved with latest compiz / compiz-manager packages. (for an existing user, make sure to enable the plugin 'workarounds' that solves many of those errors. For new users, compiz-manager now detects that there is no config and put's a initial setup in the user's home directory. No ISO (yet) available, as they were really only just checked in to Factory. I started that image from CD and updated all packages from the repository above but with compiz desktop effects on there is still the last tabs shown not the actual. Same with CompizConfig Settings Manager installed and workarounds activated by default.

If no config exists, it creates a new one (hopefully working). If a config exists, it is being used. can you try deleting / renaming "$HOME/.config/compiz/compizconfig-1/Default.ini" and see if the new result is more useful? This sounds bad - I use the same home partition right now for 11.2 and 11.3. And now I need to play with compiz settings each time since what works in 11.2 does not work in 11.3 and vice versa ;-(
Whats about a new user with an other (higher) ID number for 11.3 (as a workaround not a solution)? What versions are you (plural)/we really testing/taking about? It disappeared if in "Desktop Effects" = "Simple CompizConfig Settings Manager" the "Enable desktop effects" was clicked off. There was no other compiz manager in the "Control Center" to set all or specific workarounds on. Than I marked in "Software Magager - Yast2" for updating and upgrating all possible from the regular (factory) repostitory (about 7 packages, no compiz to see). As "compizconfig-settings-manager - Settings Manager for Compiz (CCSM)" version 0.8.4-2.3 was not installed I marked it for installing. I clicked "Apply" to run the installation to my RAM disk. After that I enabled in the "Simple CompizConfig Settings Manager" the desktop effects and there was again still this lazy effect. So I disabled effects. I entered the new installed CCSM. Workarounds were enabled. But as I entered "Workarounds" the "Fix screen updates in XGL with fglrx" was not. So I enabled it. After that in "Simple CompizConfig Settings Manager" I enabed desktop effects again. The lazy effect did not come back. I think if this status (as desribed) remains in the live CDs to the official release this would be an unnecessary anti-marketing effect for testing users of intel graphic. It's also possible that the default plugins need further tweaking (the default plugin handling is completely different as it used to be in 11.2, as we had compiz 0.7.8 then, now we're on 0.8.6) Could the compiz 0.8.x configuration file in the official release not just have an other name by default?

I have been trying out the version of compiz with the fglrx workaround enabled from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Compiz/openSUSE_Factory/ The fglrx workaround does solve the laziness problem in all the applications and terminal display also renders correctly now. However when it is enabled on my INTEL 945G chipset, the effects suddenly become very choppy. The performance of glxgears which is around 60fps without the fglrx workaround, drops to around 30fps as well. When only the fglrx workaround is turned off, the effects work without the choppiness, but the problems with terminal display and refreshing display returns. Now I updated the X11 stack from the build service repository mentioned in bug 610323, and then removed my compiz profiles and restarted the computer. I still had to disable the "fglrx" workaround to make the desktop effects smooth and non-choppy. The good thing is that with the updated Xord stack, disabling the fglrx workaround does not return the problem with redrawing of the applications. [I will go on testing the performance and report in the other bug report thread (if I have success in making a live USB or at least in a normal install on a USB drive).
