--- Comment #3 from Martin Seidler 2010-05-11 16:26:07 UTC ---
With Intel 915GM, a 1400x1050 display, openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 6, kernel
2.6.34-rc6-7-default (32 bit), GNOME 2.30 and compiz 0.8.6-1.6 I have an equal
problem with compiz turned on (and not if I turn the hole compiz off). I can
live (and work) without 2-D and 3-D effects (although the fonts are not so
sharp, too) so this problem is not critical for me.
But compiz (with not advanced settings) works fine in my actualised openSUSE
11.2 with kernel 2.6.31.12-0.2-default on the same laptop/notebook.
Detailed description:
At first I got no top panel on the window (="window decoration"?). The small
graphic buttons came only later as I go into the menues.
As I reduced the features in the CompizConfig Settings Manager I got the top
panel back again.
When I chose a second register card with compiz turned on I am first not able
to see the content of that card. I see the content of that second only after I
have chosen a third card or have moved the hole window.
In compiz I am not able to turn Wobbing Windows or Minimize Effect off.
Compare/See Also:
The actual Ubuntu 10.4 seems to have problems with some intern intel
graphic/intel onbord graphic, too. For example see
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1474759 and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/5549...
Solution/Workaround (?):
At least should compiz be turned off by default in 11.3 if the problem is not
fixed in the final release. Maybe a option of a different/older kernel version
should offered to intel graphic users?
