[Bug 1095751] New: Repositorys vs. Repositories
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1095751 Bug ID: 1095751 Summary: Repositorys vs. Repositories Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Translations Assignee: ke@suse.com Reporter: wolfgang@rosenauer.org QA Contact: ke@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Please close if this is was already discussed and decided. But as a german native speaker I find the plural of Repository > Repositorys really really strange. I think it is allowed and there are other examples like those but I find it so awkward that I'd like to raise it for assessment. I would propose to change it to Repositories instead. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1095751 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1095751#c1 --- Comment #1 from Wolfgang Rosenauer <wolfgang@rosenauer.org> --- Just to add: This is also used inconsistently. The menu in YaST is called "Software-Repositories" while within the modules it's called Repositorys. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Heise also already uses Repositorys (see https://www.heise.de/developer/meldung/Kommentar-zur-GitHub-Uebernahme-Finge...). Ponys, Hobbys, it's all the same and Wolfgang knows it ;) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

If we have only one position with Software-Repositories instead of Repositorys, we should change it in the software. That's my opinion. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I agree and in fact there are a lot of words which change their ending in plural form: city -> cities / factory - factories / baby - babies etc. For that reason I am assuming "Repositories" is the correct spelling. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The accurate German translation would be "Repositorium" (sing.) and "Repositorien" (pl.) but in my experience hardly anyone uses these terms. So I'd propose to stick with the correct (!) English original Repository/Repositories but use them in German writing like capitalized, hyphenated etc. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
