Even with keyboard autorepeat turned off in KDE, I was seeing massive auto-repeat in Vmware virtual machines. To the point of being unusable. By watching top, I found that the repeats happened in conjunction with vmware or vmware-vmx being migrated to the opposite processor. I found that by restraining vmware and its children to one processor solved the problem completely in Vmware: taskset 0x00000001 /usr/bin/vmware I wonder if the duplication in KDE occurs in conjunction with one or more processes migrating from one cpu to the other? Looking at the existing scripts on 10.0, it seems that none of them declare "select_language". I upgraded the ncurses libraries on that box to my current version, and running the normal language selection dialog with yast doesn't show any problem (using uxterm). I used the first 200k file names of find output in updatedb to sort or just run "wc" and get a horrible picture about the performace with LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 : sort wc de_DE.UTF-8 77.86 2.42 de_DE 1.88 0.29 I understand that updatedb from cron will run with LC_ALL=POSIX but users will use such tools like sort or wc and there performance sucks for german locale !! How often has it been said: rpmbuild does not guarantee reproducible builds! The reason is very simple: You have more packages installed than were installed in the chrooted build environment when openssh was built. These extra packages pollute the build, in general they can cause undesired/broken optional code paths to be enabled in a way that cannot be fixed other than not installing the offending package, and in this case it even breaks the build completely. Supported solution: Use the build script. Worse, but probably working solution: Uninstall libgssapi and its dependencies before rebuilding openssh, and you'll see that the build succeeds. It's of course up to the maintainer to decide whether rpmbuild should be supported, but personally I'd say No because it will end up in a neverending chain of packages that build fine with build, but need ugly modifications for dirty non-chrooted rpmbuild usage. You would have to maintain patches for broken code paths you don't even use. A hint for the reporter: Look at the #usedforbuild line of the spec file. Whenever a build fails and you have just 1 package more installed than mentioned in the #usedforbuild line, think twice before reporting the build failure as a bug because it means that your build environment differs from what has been used to build the package. You're demanding quite a lot of support here! The other issues is, that ssh-add seems to hard-coded to run 'x11-ssh-askpass'. It should run ssh-askpass, which depending on the session runs the right one (in my case gtk-askpass). At second there where two compiz instances running.
