WHY: GQView is configured to do the image rotation tasks using the program jpegtran, which is found in the package jpeg (6b). Unfortunately, on a standard installation, this package get's not installed, even when GQView is installed later. Korean was installed as a secondary language. Upon switching the language to Korean in GDM and logging in, the application menu has many icons with blocks as text. In both 32 bit and 64 bit installs the problem is the same as well as a system updated to factory as of 11/30/06. This text corruption was not present in Beta2 and is not widespread to the applications themselves. Only to the icons in the application launcher. I have also tried other languages and they do not experience the problem. It seems that for items for which Korean translation doesn't exist, some other language is selected and as fonts for the language aren't present, it's rendered using UTF-8 code in box format.
