However, if I select the Xen kernel (vmlinux-3.4.6-2.10-xen.gz) when I get the prompt for the passphrase my USB keyboard no longer works. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Reboot machine with encrypted LVM and Xen kernel installed 2. Select Xen kernel 3. Can't unlock encrypted LVM Actual Results: Can't boot. Expected Results: Machine boots with Xen kernel. The initrd shell script had tried to provide an emergency shell whichwas not usable due plymouth. Plymouth had locked the console down and also poped up several times as I've tried to type some shell commands to the bash prompt. This problem occurs because Chromium in openSUSE is using system's libxml (-Duse_system_libxml=1, see chromium.spec in the source RPM). The Fn+F11 key used to activate/deactivate the WIFI. The Fn+F12 key used to activate/deactivate the bluetooth. These keys worked perfectly in opensuse 11.3. I did a distribution upgrade yesterday. Now, in opensuse 12.1, these keys don't work anymore. The WIFI is always activated and the bluebooth seems to be always deactivated. I can't make it work. I'm using KDE, but it does not seem to work better in IceWM. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. try to deactivate the WIFI with the keys Fn+F11 2. check the connection, it's still active in NetworkManager and the Wifi LED is still green. 3. Try to activate the bluetooth with the keys Fn+F12 4. I have an entry options acerhdf verbose=1 fanon=70000 fanoff=63000 interval=15 kernelmode=1 working flawlessly using the standard 12.2 - kernel. However, on kernel 3.7.1-1.1.i586 this does not work. The module is loaded, it prints the interval, it prints the temperature every 15s but it does not turn the fan on or off. The kernel stems from: ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard Just to let you know. Returning to the "stock" distribution kernel fixes this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install kernel 3.7.1 from repo above 2. load acerhdf - module 3. wait whether the fan is actually turned on or off. Actual Results: The module is loading as expected, no error messages, apparently "normal" entries in dmesg-output. However, the fan keeps running all the time. I have had this bug repeatedly in opensuse 11.2, 11.3, and 11.4 with the kernels supplied in the standard opensuse distribution. I delayed upgrading from 11.1 till I found that I could get the fan working in 11.4 with the kernel supplied from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_11.4/ I upgraded my operating system with a format of / and /home and clean installation of opensuse 12.1. However, with the 3.x kernel supplied on the iso I downloaded (opensuse 12.1 i86x64) on 12-6-2011 the cooling fan didn't work. I was going to try and install the latest kernel from the Kernel:/Head repository to see if that would get the fan working. But there isn't a repository for Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_12.1 yet, so I didn't get to try it. Since the fan wasn't working at all I really couldn't use 12.1, so I formatted and reinstalled 11.4. Again, I wasn't able to get the fan working in 11.4 until I installed kernel-default kernel-devel and kernel-source 3.1.4-1.1x86-64 from opensuse build service, since there wasn't a kernel in the HEAD repository at the moment. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 12.1 2. 3. Actual Results: Cooling fan doesn't operate at all.
