On a regular install there is an activity called "New Activity"--kind of a sample activity--in addition to default "Desktop" and "Desktop Icons" ones. Attached is an excerpt from plasma-desktop-appletsrc showing the offending entry. Notice there is nothing set for activity or activityId, which I believe is why it cannot be deleted. If this section is manually removed from the config file (and plasma is restarted), the activity is gone. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start KDE Live CD 2. Open activity manager 3. Try to start or delete the unnamed activity Actual Results: It cannot be started or deleted. This may (and actually does) cause unwanted side effects if an application handles field focus events. For example the Twitter web client hides the empty tweet input field when it looses focus, so it can't be refocused by IBus (or whoever does this), and it must be clicked again manually. It's very confusing and distracting. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Find any application which handles input field focus events (e.x. Twitter web client) 2. Put the cursor into the text field and switch keyboard layouts 3. See the side effects of application specific focus handlers Actual Results: Application receives extra text fields focus events on each layout switch. Expected Results: Layout switching must not trigger any side effects except the input language itself. I would post this bug to the Gnome tracker, but those guys don't seem to pay much attention to their common users critics, so maybe a word from Novel can weight more. Similarely we could provide an own option for zypper in order to use the rpm-database of another machine and then just invoke it with the download-only switch in order to fetch packages to be installed on another machine later on. It makes sense, after booting, user is asked for password, system gets access to root, and booting continues. So I tried to do the similar thing -- I created /boot partition (not encrypted) and root partition (encrypted). Installer refuses to create such config claiming partitions "/ /usr /boot /var" cannot be encrypted. This is regression and not true -- only /boot has really be not encrypted, the rest can, and my working machine (OS 11.4) is a proof of that. For the record -- this bug is present in OS 12.2 as well.
