I tried installing current Factory (using pci=noioapicquirk), which seemed to go fine up until 2nd stage where I found that no network interfaces had been configured. It looks like the 1st installation stage (over ssh) is restarted - I get the usual invitation to run yast.ssh. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Start installation, choose minimum server selection, unselect grub and SuSEFirewall. If not a FQDN do a domain search. If a CNAME turns up, replace by its value, the so-called canonical name, and get the "A" or AAAA record for it. If bug-afflicted conditions are met, find a PTR record for the IP address and use that as the canonical name. This name goes into the service principal. In /etc/krb5.conf [libdefaults], rdns=true is the default. The rdns=false setting should suppress the PTR lookup, but it doesn't due to a bug. See tickets 7132 and 7124 in the MIT Kerberos bug tracker at http://krbdev.mit.edu/rt/ (guest login OK, use the "go to ticket" box). My specific use-case, broken by this bug, is discussed in ticket 7132. The developers' workaround for the bug is going to be available in krb5-1.10.2. Then YaST starts up (text mode as expected) and in the middle of the configuration suddenly a message is painted into the screen that I should enter the password for /home. After a while boot continues but the system doesn't seem to be booted properly. Network is off for example and the home partition not unlocked. Nowadays texlive uses /var/cache/texmf/fonts/ for that purpose. See also bug 543849. According to FHS /var/cache/fonts is optional¹ So if there are no objections I'd remove /var/cache/fonts from the filesystem package completely. I checked Fedora 17 and Ubuntu 11.10, neither has it either.
