At the beginning no sound come from headphone but after adding model=dell-vostro in 50-sound.conf and upgrading the kernel, I can hear the sound from headphone as well as from internal speaker. One thing still missing is the system cannot capture the input sound from microphone as well as from external webcam. I attached the configuration. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. I was adviced to add an "idepad" string to sound options in sound.conf file, that actually helped only for current session, then I tried to setup my soundcard through Yast manually, how i did it: opened Yast > Hardware > Sound Configuration, there I had two drivers(SBx00)Azalia(Intel HDA) and (RS780) Azalia controller, both being enabled and configured atomatically, I don't like it, so I disabled (RS780) Azalia controller and set my (SBx00)Azalia(Intel HDA) options: Fix DMA pointer(0=auto, 1=none, 2=POSBUF) position_fix was set to 0 Value Use single command to communicate with codecs(for debug only)was set to 0 Value Use the given board model was set to ideapad. That worked quite well, and my video, flash, audio worked nicely with either headphones or speakers. But sometimes when I rebooted and logged in into my openbox manager I had problems with audio, sometimes I needed to start kmix only or simple mixer and to make all sound work, but sometimes I didn't have sound in flash and video, sometimes headphones didn't work, so then I opened Yast and went trough the above setup again to make everything work, cause all my configured options were absent in my Yast Sound config, so I had to set them back. This happens quite often when I have to choose different desktop managers just after reboot, I also added one file to my home folder a file .asoundrc (it was adviced on one of the forums). Cat of .asoundrc is: pcm.!default { type hw card 1 } ctl.!default { type hw card 1 } I dont know if it actually helped cause only manual setup through Yast makes sound to work properly. I always check my volume in any mixer I have, so don't advice it. What I think actually is that os 11.3 simply doesn't have any proper hardware support for lenovo thinkpad EDGE, strangely though Lenovo is an official parter of SUSE. I'm waiting for nice good kernel update, so I could finally enjoy my suse experience. thank you. Voice chat works fine when I boot into Windows and access Second Life with Either Second Life Viewer or Emerald Viewer for Windows. Am using a Logitech USB headset and Microphone. Sound works fine in Linux with all other applications I use, but when I access Second Life I can neither hear voice or speak on microphone. Other I can hear other sounds in Second Life (gestures, music, environmental sounds etc.), but not voice. I have done a search and tried all suggestions regarding the installation of libraries and drivers, but nothing seems to work. If this should be a feature request, rather than a bug report, let me know. Not sure best place to post. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log into Second Life by launching Emerald Viewer for Linux and clicking Log In. 2. Attempt to use voice chat by activating (opening Mic) once device is registered in the viewer. 3. Use text chat to confirm that others have sound and are actively using voice successfully with others, but cannot hear you. Also, note that you cannot hear them either. Actual Results: Voice chat not working. Expected Results: Should be able to hear voice chat with properly configured speakers and communicate via voice with properly configured microphone. It seems to be some kind of power_save from alsa. However the module does not accept power_save=0 I was previously using 11.2 and had no issue till the upgrade.
