libvirtd will not open at all when using Xen as hypervisor, keeps giving
message about "No Socket".
System is new Intel Sandy Bridge Core i3
Reproducible: Always

restarting libvirtd gives error messages, top line complains about "No Socket"
Expected Results:
started/restarted without errors

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX-400
Processor: AMD Athlon XP
Processor Speed: 1250 MHz
Memory: 0.75 GB
Disk Setup: RAID-1 for all partitions except /boot
Disk Type: PATA (WD 160 GB - 2 disks)
I have been using the workstation for years, with the previous installment at
openSuSE 11.1 with no issue.
After getting through the raid issues, I attempted to work to get X working (I
default to run-level 3, and bring up X at the command line). I tried with both
the default drivers and the updated driver from NVIDIA with the same results.
After no success with 12.1 after multiple installation attempts, etc, I
reproduced the same issue on 11.4.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. startx from the command line
2.
3.
Actual Results:
X starts but it is extremely sluggish, does not completely render, and the CPU
is pegged at 100%. Only about 80% of the memory is used for the first hour of
letting it trying to render.
Expected Results:
X to run with less CPU. X to be usable. Be able to run apps under X.
I have the Xorg log file as well, but can only upload 1 file at a time.

I've a Lenovo T420 with a built-in Intel and nVidia card. So far I've been
only able to use the Intel card, but something is wrong with this. It's
annoyingly buggy resulting in regular freezes of X. Besides this, 3D
support sucks big time with the Intel chip, so I'd like to try the
nVidia card. However that seems far from trivial.
A brief research landed me on this page, where there seems to be work
going on to get support for these dual graphics devices:

Using YaST2 to configure postfix (both Mail Server and /etc/sysconfig Editor)
looks like it's working but changes (e.g. POSTFIX_RELAYHOST) never appear in
/etc/postfix/main.cf etc.
--> postfix not configured correctly
Apparent cause: The module SuSEconfig.postfix is installed in /usr/sbin
(package postfix), but searched in /sbin/conf.d
Symptom: SuSEconfig -module postfix reports "Module postfix does not exist".
Workaround: ln -t /sbin/conf.d /usr/sbin/SuSEconfig.postfix makes it available
but link is cleaned up automatically, so need to do that manually each time.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install postfix (in my case, postfix-2.8.5-3.2.1.x86_64)
2. use YaST2 / Mail Server _or_
3. invoke SuSEconfig.postfix
Actual Results:
Postfix config files in /etc/postfix are not updated.
In case of step 3., message "Module postfix does not exist".
Expected Results:
Update config files & restart postfix
Probably related, though the apparent root cause is not identified there:

Apple Mac Mini (4,1) with nVidia GeForce 320M
In TwinView configuration only one display port works other port is turned off
In Separate X configuration one display port has picture the other is on but
flickers so it is impossible to see anything.
Monitors are Samsung SyncMaster 24X connected by Dispay Port to DVI-D and HDMI
to DVI-D converters (from Apple)
It is possible to switch display (and display port) so this is some kind of a
driver issue. It worked on OpenSuSE 11.3 and 11.4.
I've tested with several resolutions.
Latest (290.10) Nvidia drivers from the nvidia repository.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Just install 2 monitors on a Mac Mini and load 290.10 drivers
Since the Mac Minis a bought just because they supported 2 monitors in
1920x1200 the bug is considered Major.
In single monitor setups there is no real issue.
I do not know if this bug is caused by some dual-link issue (I do not have a
monitor with higher resolution and Dual-Link capability so I am not able to
test it)

PolicyKit is deprecated in favor of polkit. The goal is to finally
get rid of PolicyKit for the next openSUSE release. Please port your package to
polkit.
The following yast packages depend on PolicyKit, I guess it's not necessary to

openSUSE 11.4, 2.6.37.6-0.5-default, 32bit, ATA 5, 5400 disks
BusyBox v1.1.3, kernel: Linux Venus 2.6.12.6-VENUS, mips (E-Great Eg1-R1),
USB 2, external HDD.
All Linux clients use cifs and mounts to /mnt/smb directory, except of the
busybox, which mounts the SMB shares on another directory.
All openSUSE mounts from fstab with options:
Share 1: rw,auto,credentials=/etc/samba/crdrs,iocharset=utf8,rsize=130048
Share 2: rw,auto,credentials=/etc/samba/crdrs,iocharset=utf8
Write TO server is acceptable (7.5MB/s, with a max of 8Mb/sec). It is slower
than the theoretical performance of the 100Mbit network, but still it's OK.
With Linux clients I have a max of 2Mb/s (Megabytes/seconds)
On WinXP, I don't know the speed, but it is definately faster, much faster
(copy of a 700MB iso in about 2mins).
In order to ensure that I do not use disk cache, I have the same iso copies 14
times in the HD. (01-14).
It's not a LAN issue, because:
* iperf reports from 90mbps to 95mbps (bi-directionally)
* reads from shares via fish/scp are acceptable (7,0Mb/sec and 7.5Mb/s
respectively).
Increasing smb log level, resulted to no helpful messages.
I was sure that the server was performing better, much better actually
(7.5-8Mb/s), when I used the openSUSE 11.3.
So, at first I downgraded kernel. No change. Speeds were slow (1,5Mb/sec)
Then, I disabled the ipv6 (from boot options). Again, speeds were slow
(1,5Mb/s)
Then, I restored the original 11.4 samba packages:
Kernel: Linux 2.6.37.1-1.2-default
Samba: samba-3.5.7-1.17.1.i586
samba-client-3.5.7-1.17.1.i586
samba-doc-3.5.7-3.5.1.noarch
samba-krb-printing-3.5.7-3.5.1.i586
yast2-samba-client-2.20.2-3.1.noarch
yast2-samba-server-2.20.2-3.1.noarch
samba-winbind-3.5.7-1.17.1.i586
Now, I have a read speed of 5Mb/s. Slower, but at least I can work, somehow.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install openSUSE 11.4 as a file server with the attached smb.conf file
2. Install the kernel and samba versions mentioned. Share a directory with
large files (eg isos) and guest permissions.
3. Use a Windows XP client and any openSUSE client.
Expected Results:
Samba should read/write at the same speed.
