See attached test programm. Some libraries like 'pthread' exhibit this behaviour and it propagates up the dependency chain. This breaks programs which rely on reloading of affected dynamic libraries. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. compile test program with 'g++ test.cpp -otest -ldl' 2. run 'for file in /usr/lib64/lib*.so; do ./test $file; done | grep failed' Actual Results: see attachment #2 Expected Results: /usr/lib64/librt.so failed. (at least that is what happens on my gentoo machine) AFAIK, x86_64 and x86 are both affected. After digging the code I figured it actually looked for mkisofs first and set the toolerror flag because it's not there. Of the 4169M file, just 74806Kb are copied to the remote filesystem, while the rest is copied to the localfilesystem instead, to directory ???? To somewhere in the root filesystem I have been unable to locate (yet?). Ah, somehow it has been automatically erased, by mc on exit, I hope. I know it was copied to / somewhere because I saw the available free space decreasing. I did the test twice. I don't think this is a big issue but they documentation goes out of it's way to make a point of keeping permissions on the nut daemon restricted so I thought it should be noted. Perhaps just a documentation change to let people know that it might be necessary would be enough. Dump 0.4b42 does claim ext4 support... Or at the very least dump should NOT allow ext4 filesystems to be used until it is properly working on them. The main issue is that dump will not complain about ext4 partitions being dumped. Thus the problem is encountered later (too late) on when one attempts to restore the filesystem.
