What is supposed to happen during these 30 sec? The problem that I see is that the system writes every second 3-6 lines with the following text: "Unable to enumerate USB-device on port 2" and I see also less frequently the following text: "New high speed USB device, using ehci_hcd and address xxx ( xxx varies from 2-127,going upwards and cycling around). I see these messages by booting up, but also during normal operation in /var/log/warnings regardless whether an USB device is connected or not. I issued the lvresize command to add 5GB on a mounted ext4 filesystem. As you see from the log included, lvresize ask for confirmation telling that procedure WILL damage the filesystem. I answered "no" and the procedure have been done so.... fortunately no damage but why asking if you do the job? lvresize -r -L +5G /dev/nonraid/dati-ntop fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2 e2fsck 1.41.11 (14-Mar-2010) /dev/mapper/nonraid-dati--ntop is mounted. The first reboot followed by configuration work smoothly, but after everything is done and upon next reboot I am presented with a login screen (although I had chosen automatic login) and the user account I'd created is non-existant. Logging as root works, but adding the username/password with yast2 breaks the system (freezes during restart). Logging as root in safe mode runlevel 3 and adding the user in textmode yast2 fixes the problem (solution given to me in the OpenSUSE forum: http://forums.opensuse.org/forums/english/get-technical-help-here/install-b…) Did over 10 installs on three different machines (AcerOne atom & Intel graphics, Dell Vostro Core2Duo & nVidia, Gigabyte mobo i5 w Intel HD3000 graphics) and tried all four KDE installation media (CD and DVD, 32-bit and 64-bit) with identical results. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot from OpenSUSE 12.1 final KDE CD or DVD installation disc 2. Install and configure your system (including the first mandatory reboot before the config routine) 3. Restart the machine Actual Results: At this point my user account is gone. Only root login accepted (no difference between graphic and text mode).
