Dear Team!
I've reinstalled our application server from SuSE 10.0 to openSuSE 11.1.
All goes well but there's a strange problem. We access this application server
with Xming / Cygwin X / Xephyr / other X with -query option by XDMCP from our
Windows / Linux boxes. On the old SuSE 10.0 box we can use the CTRL+C and
CTRL+V combination it works well. Now, with openSuSE 11.1 the clipboard only
works inside the started X we cannot copy and paste a selected part to the
connected Windows or Linux application anymore.
It seems there's no connection between the two clipboards. In
Windows it clipboard works well I can use the copy&paste Windows to Windows
apps and under the Xminged Linux is utilizing well its clipboard inside. I can
copy and paste anything from a Linux program to a Linux program. But there's no
connection from connected client's and the application server's clipboard and
reverse.
I've written to xorg community to fix this bug but thay said you need to look
for it because it works well with other distros. ( I do not know, we use SuSE
only )
Xming:
Release: 6.9.0.31
FreeType2: 2.3.4
commandline:
Xming :0 -clipboard -query 10.0.200.42 or
X -ac -query 10.0.200.42 :1
Xephyr -ac -query 10.0.200.42 :1,2,3, etc
There's no any relating error message in any logs.
Clients: Windows XP sp3, Windows 2000 sp4, openSuSE 11.0, 11.1
Linux: openSuSE 11.1 - 2.6.27.45-0.1-pae ( all updates are installed )
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
John
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Windows or Linux client
2. Start Xming / CygwinX / Xephyr / another X server with these options: -ac
-query 10.0.200.42 :1
3. open a kwrite write something into the client area, select, copy ( CTRL+C )
and try to paste it into the connected ( Xminged, CygwinX-ed, Xephyer-ed, etc )
clients application ( CTRL+V ). It won't go. They all pastes the content of
their clipboard it was before not the one we selected to copied. It is still
working on SuSE 10.0, without a need to change anything.
Actual Results:
There seems no connection between the client's and server's clipboard
Expected Results:
It should copy from one and paste to another.
No error so I cannot add more information at this time.
This problem is very serious for us because our users uses this feature to copy
content in Linux and paste it into Excel / Word under Windows. And now we
stuck....

.. for every function it supports, so that the user can give a timeframe for
the function to run on.
My idea currently is to support from..to... and since with objects. Because
then, any function running after the given object are running on that
timeframe.

Summary: Can't edit Konsole Root Shell profile:
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.3

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7)
Gecko/20091222 SUSE/3.5.7-1.1.1 Firefox/3.5.7
Editing the 'Root Shell' profile in Konsole-> Settings-> Manage Profiles does
not change the settings in the Konsole that is launched when selecting
Launcher-> System-> Terminal-> Terminal - Super User Mode (Classic menu).
Although a 'Root Shell.profile' with the changed configuration is added to
~.kde4/share/apps/konsole, it is not used. The application is still launched
with the default settings stored in
/usr/share/kde4/apps/konsole/Root_Shell.profile. This means that, regardless of
any user editing (whether as root or not), the default profile prevails, and
the user is effectively prevented from editing the profile from within the
application.
To fix this, once a user has edited the 'Root Shell' profile, Konsole should be
programmed to use the profile stored in ~.kde4/share/apps/konsole/Root
Shell.profile, not the default profile in
/usr/share/kde4/apps/konsole/Root_Shell.profile.
This bug has been present since at least openSUSE 11.1.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Konsole, select Settings-> Manage Profiles.
2. Select the 'Root Shell' profile and click the Edit Profile button.
3. Change the profile in some way; eg, change the background color to Light
Yellow. Click OK, then OK.
4. Close the application.
5. Start the Konsole - Super User Konsole application.
Actual Results:
The application has the default Black on White background, as specified in
/usr/share/kde4/apps/konsole/Root_Shell.profile.
Expected Results:
The application should have the Black on Light Yellow background, as specified
in ~.kde4/share/apps/konsole/Root Shell.profile.
