I added "nomodeset" "vga=1600x1200" to the boot commandline of the kernel (editing /boot/grub/menu.lst). A new kernel has been distributed via update today. After installation, both entries vanished from the menu, forcing me to reset my machine after reboot as I did not expect this to happen. The kernel installer should not touch parameters added to the boot commandline when installing new kernels. This is an unexpected and problematic behaviour I. e. when administrating machines remotely. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. add "nomodeset" to the boot commandline 2. update kernel 3. "nomodeset" is removed -> should not happen Actual Results: see above Expected Results: keep manually added parameters in the kernel command line.
