I see screen like a rainbow during boot process. Good news: I finally hear sound when KDE is booted. But screen remains corrupted, nothing is visible. Had to hang system off. Tried than to boot using VESA screen instead of default video settings. Same effect. System CPU: Intel Graphics: NVIDIA 9600GT Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot for OpenSUSE 11.3 KDE4 i686 Live CD 2. Start installation 3. Screen would be corrupted Actual Results: Screen is corrupted, system is unusable and no way to change video settings to another driver. If I start in -safe-mode and quit when asking for deactivate plugins, addons etc. I can start firefox in normal mode. A restart is not possible, i have to to repeate the steps. Running MozillaFirefox-3.6.0-1.2.x86_64 on Opensuse 11.2 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. $> firefox -> exits with exitcode 1 (no segfault) 2. $> firefox -safe-mode, then quit directly 3. $> firefox -> everyting works, until I quit firefox. X wants to enable KMS but complains about a version mismatch: [dri] This chipset requires a kernel module version of 1.17.0, [dri] but the kernel reports a version of 2.1.0.[dri] If using legacy modesetting, upgrade your kernel. [dri] If using kernel modesetting, make sure your module is [dri] loaded prior to starting X, and that this driver was built [dri] with support for KMS. [dri] Disabling DRI. Reason: The radeon module is not loaded during boot and KMS is not activated. If I manually load the radeon module from runlevel 3, kms gets activated (resolution switches). On an installed system, there is an initrd script which loads the kms modules, I think this is not integrated into live CDs yet. That was already done in earlier milestones but got lost because people thought it might not be useful anymore with Firefox' basic KDE integration. Actually the reason why that is still useful is that gconf itself has epiphany set as default browser and only gconf2-branding-openSUSE throws firefox in there. With a usual KDE installation that doesn't get installed because of dependency hell to Gnome components. Now every application reading the default browser from gconf (Thunderbird as a popular example) would try to open epiphany what fails silently.
