Whenever I shutdown the system the shutdown sequence does not come to a proper end (see attached picture of shutdown messages). As a consequence the disks are not properly unmounted, causing fsck messages at next boot (see picture attached to bug 559048). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Shutdown the system Actual Results: Shutdown sequence hangs before proper end. Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file. Select a character coding from the menu and try again" Using grep with -a seems to work. Workaround described in comment 13 still required if you want to make use of gnome-do and other compiz short-cuts that use Super_L or Super_R. The problem might (_might_) be gone in openSUSE 11.3 milestone 1. I can't tell because I've only got it installed in a virtual machine where I can't enable compiz.
