I'm running a gigabit ethernet. The driver works flawless after cold power on. But when I resume after suspend to disk, the network speed drops to 100MBit/s. The r8619 driver doesn't support "ethtool -r" and "ethtool -e eth0 speed 1000" doesn't work, either. The workaround is to remove the module and modprobe it again. It would be great if the network driver would keep its speed after resume from disk. I am trying to adjust the open files ulimit from standard 1024 to 2048. I edit /etc/sysconfig/ulimit and run killall mingetty as described. Then I see "/etc/initscript: line 90: open files: cannot modify limit: invalid argument". I searched and found postings from 2004 and 2005 but that did not really help. Line 90 of /etc/initscript is: "test -z "$SARGS" || ulimit $SARGS" For testing, I put an echo-line into initscript to see the content of SARGS. SARGS is: " -Sn 2048 -Sc 0". I also tried using the yast sysconfig editor, but that did not work either and brought up the same error messages. After logging out and in again, the open files limit is still 1024. A tarball with the relevant logs (those that changed after calling "check for updates" and "zypper lp") is attached. It contains pk_backend_zypp and zypper.log. My request would be to supplement dup with a ddn-option (distribution downgrade). It just happens quite often that one has to remove all the packages just installed via dup from the buildservice because they do not work properly. As zypper does not offer an undo function providing ddn would probably be the only way to achieve this. It could do something like the follwing commands: zypper in -f $( grep '|X11-Xorg|' /var/log/zypp/history | grep 'install' | cut -f 3 -d '|') 2>&1 | tee /dev/stderr | grep "not found in repositories"| cut -f 2 -d " " >todel zypper rm $(cat todel) i.e. downgrade all packages of X11-Xorg that are available fromout of another source; remove all other packages (although this time I had to use Yast manually to do this because zypper has complained about a lot of packages not being available which could in deed be downgraded via Yast after disabling the X11-Xorg repo.) Network settings should be static. BTW, I hate wireless too. Using the old but very clean if-up/down GUI gives the user piece of mind, because it is transparent and just works. All that is needed is a nice and simple button for dialin/hangup. There is devel:tools:scm which links to the non-uptodate Factory package, and somebody seems to have removed the package from the Subversion project (maybe even myself, I don't remember). The outdated package is lacking bug fixes that I made in the Subversion project, and which were successfully submitrequested to the version in devel:tools:scm:svn later. At the moment, only the package in devel:tools:scm:svn is up to date. I recreated the link in Subversion (to the correct package), to make the fixed packqge available to the servers updated from there. I noticed the bug when I updated a server which received an outdated package from devel:tools:scm, thereby reverting my fixes that it had had before, rendering viewvc non-functional. So, what I propose to fix it is this: - submitrequest the fixes from devel:tools:scm:svn to Factory - update the _link in devel:tools:scm to devel:tools:scm:svn (it points to the outdated Factory package at the moment, for no reason I guess - maybe finally get rid of Subversion or devel:tools:scm:svn, because there should not be a reason to maintain (and build!) subversion twice?
