Summary: resolv.conf not properly updated
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.2
Version: RC 1
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Network
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: bwhiteley(a)novell.com
QAContact: qa(a)suse.de
Found By: ---
While running my laptop at home, NM sets my nameserver to 10.0.0.254 (from
dhcp) in resolv.conf. This is correct.
I s2ram while at home, then travel to the office. At the office, I insert the
laptop into a docking bay, then resume. Once resumed, resolv.conf looks like
this:
### /etc/resolv.conf file autogenerated by racoon of novell-ipsec-tools!
# Process id: 3146
###
search <home_domain> provo.novell.com
nameserver 10.0.0.254
nameserver <office_ns1>
nameserver <office_ns2>
This is clearly not correct.
'rcnetwork restart' doesn't fix the problem. I have to either edit resolv.conf
manually, or delete it, and then restart the network.

Gecko/20090909 SUSE/3.5.3-3.1 Firefox/3.5.3
There is still legacy code still in /etc/init.d/alsasound referring to
/etc/modprobe.d/sound file, even though that file has been depreciated (no
longer in) openSUSE-11.2 as the file is now called
/etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf.
This may have no impact. ... I'm just trying to understand how the
/etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf file was loaded, and I stumbled upon this code
when I did an "grep -i modprobe * " in the /etc/init.d directory.
I am not a programmer. Is this intended to remain?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to /etc/init.d directory and type: grep -i modprobe *
2.
3.
Expected Results:
This has no impact that I know about. It is just confusing for someone trying
to understand. Possibly the code is deliberate for backward compatibility?

On a system upgraded from SuSE 11.1 to 11.2 RC1
The file /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.postfix attempted to delete most of my postfix
chroot files.
My developement postfix does not use encrytpion and the result from the
postconf command on line 130 is "$smtp_tl_cert_file", and $smtp_tl_tl_cert_file
is unset.
The test on 131 is passed, and the value of DIR on line 133 becomes "." and 134
becomes "cpifnewer $smtp_tls_cert_file ./." with nothing in
$smtp_tls_cert_file. There was a similar problem several years ago.
Since it is deleting files, I would suggest that cpifnewer does some basic
sanity checking. In addition, the smtp_tls_key_file test could be nested
inside the previous smtp_tls_cert_file test since the default postconf value of
smtp_tls_cert_file is "" and the test on 124 will fail.

Hi,
In the sound.$$.po the term SoundFont (tm) is written wrong in some strings,
sometimes we see 'soundfont', 'sound fonts', 'Soundfont'. And if possible leave
a comment for translator that this is a name that shouldn't be translated.
Btw, in the documentation (start-up guide) its referred as "Sound Fonts"
Regards,

Summary: There is no multipath support in openSUSE 11.2 (RC1)

Calling the appropriate commands manually and using strace, I figured out that
on both x86 and x86_64, and on various machines /sbin/multipath and
/sbin/multipathd equally suffers segmentation fault if they start to set up
multipath volumes.
When calling them from them init script, it looks like this:
carrier5:~ # /etc/init.d/boot.multipath start
Creating multipath targets:/etc/init.d/boot.multipath: line 59: 7695
Segmentation fault $PROGRAM -v 0
timeout waiting for devices
failed
carrier5:~ # /etc/init.d/multipathd start
Starting multipathd (no pidfile)
failed
This means that currently there is no multipath support in openSUSE 11.2.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable the boot.multipath and multipathd services
2. Restart the machine
Actual Results:
Neither service can start.
Expected Results:
Boths services should be effective.
