It doesn't store the selected value, but the value that selected when systemsettings was started. I just installed KDE4 RC1 and I'm still having problems with icons disappearing from the panel. I right clicked on the Firefox icon from the main SUSE menu and chose 'add to panel'. The icon appears and works normally, but when I logout or reboot the icon disappears. Rinse, repeat. My friend says turning off hinting for Gulim in .fonts.conf in Ubuntu does the trick but it doesn't work on suse (maybe some difference in system font configuration?). I'll attach a screen shot.
