GRUB and LILO failed in DEBIAN and SUSE. The BIOS does not allow to protect the Master Boot Sector. The problem comes at the end of the installation program, but was indicated by the firmware check as a possible faillure. Booted alternate system, chrooted to new system. Installed grub from new system on clean internal disk and clean external usb disk. This change now means that forwarded mail is often rejected by mail servers whereas it was accepted in the past. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start thunderbird . 2. Go the inbox . 3. Select a message and click on the forward button. 4. Fill in an address of a mail server that is known to dislike certain attachment filename extensions. 5. Click Send. Expected result: Mail to be delivered as in previous versions of SUSE/openSUSE. Actual results: A mail bounce saying that the mail has been rejected because it has a .eml extension is received. How reproducible is the problem? It is reproducible every time. Additional information: There is a patch in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380354#c80 which provides a hidden preference to turn off using .eml on email attachments. This would provide the option to restore the forwarded email behaviour in Thunderbird to that of previous versions of openSUSE.
