This is a nice option to have, as when I do an installation, I just usually select all the packages from the DVD which are available to me at the time of installation anyway. Questions. If this option is available in 11.0 for example can you tell where it is please ?. Is there a tickbox to tick, to select all packages on DVD ? I heard a lot of complains about the update-config where a list of (community) repositories are shown. For people that know the system of repositories it is 'crystal clear' but net users don't understand it. They are confronted with a list that does not explain anything about the repositories. X11:XGL << What's that? Should I use it? It would be better if there was some information about the repo's and which one are usefull for 'normal' users. Just like we give information about RPM-packages in Software Install. It doesn't have to be technical correct as long as it it usefull for Joe Average. History: On SLED10 / SLED10 SP1 and SLED10 SP2 this has always worked perfect Starting wit openSUSE 11 the machine hangs when rebooting. Hardware: Dell Optiplex 745 Bios revision 2.6.1 (latest as of today) Software openSUSE 11.0 Linux hans 2.6.25.9-0.2-pae #1 SMP 2008-06-28 00:00:07 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Problem: When selecting a sutdown with reboot, the machine hangs. We see the following on the screen: =========================== .. Shutting down resource manager Running /etc/init.d/halt.local Sending all processes teh TERM signal... Unmounting fuse control filesystem Set Hardware Clock to the current System Time Turnign off swap files Unmounting file systems /dev/sr0 umounted /dev/sdb1 unounted non umounted rpc_pipefs umounted /dev/sda3 unounted /dev/sda2 unounted Stopping udedv: Please stand by while rebooting the system... =========================== At this point we need to powercycle the system as it does not boot further, nor recover from this state. The "system" seems to recognize the card at least: /sysinfo gives Display Info Vendor: nVidia Corporation Model: GeForce 7300 GT Driver: Unknown sax2 -p Chip: 0 is -> VESA Framebuffer Graphics 01:00:0 0x10de 0x02e2 AGP fbdev I changed fro SUSE 10.1 to opensuse 11.0 but it crapped out on graphics during the loading then tried to continue in text mode. I fought the good fight and finally gave up. I can at least get a display in 10.3 but I can't get SAX2 to do anything with the driver "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.12-pkg2.run" I tried older drivers, one click etc all no go. The problem is SaX related I think(?) Although there seems to be a Checksum error in this log example I have reloaded multiple times.
