Perhaps the ogg vorbis encoder could be selected by default since the vorbis-tools package comes pre-installed. In addition, is it possible to set KAudioCreator to do a "Cache and Remote" lookup for CDs by default? I use it as my main web browser). I can enable it by using the right-click Toolbar Menu or Settings/Toolbars, but I have also found that it disappears without my prompting, for example when loading a web page. As Konqueror restores the previous session when you log out of a session with it open, it should restore the toolbars with it, in their previous location. I switched to my test user "susi" in a new KDE 3.5.7 session where I selected the configuration page in the KDE control centre for the login manager. http://www.easylinux.de/Artikel/ausgabe/2004/08/056-kde-tipps/kde11.png I pressed the button for the system management mode. I got the notice "Ladevorgang ..." (Loading ...) after I entered the root password. I would like to point out that this operation takes too long to be really useable. (I'd like to know how long it will take to complete.) I switched between my desktops a couple of times while this data retrieval was running. The display was fine during ten minutes. But I was surprised when I looked back after approximately an hour. I saw a few pixels besides the white mouse pointer alone in the dark. I have just repeated this use case. Now I get a completely black screen after I've pressed "Strg+Alt+F8". (I've noticed the missing refresh after twenty minutes already.) If one has not dragged, then clicking outside the menu closes it, but this does not work anymore after one has dragged.
