Summary: Dropdown form contents is not saved when using .doc
format
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: OpenOffice.org
AssignedTo: eward(a)novell.com
ReportedBy: sitsofe(a)yahoo.com
QAContact: qa(a)suse.de
Found By: ---
Description of the problem:
Filling in and saving it off a form containing a drop-down box in Word 97 .doc
format will result in a file that does not contain the dropdown choices or the
answer picked. Unfortunately it is not clear that this is what is going to
happen and makes it difficult to use Linux in MSOffice environments.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download dropdownform.doc (to be attached) containing a drop-down Word form.
2. Open the dropdownform.doc in oowriter .
3. Click on the grey box below Dropdown.
4. Select "Drop-down Item 2" then click on OK.
5. Go to File -> Save As...
6. Put newform.doc in the Location box (I'm on KDE) and make sure the Filter is
set to "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)" .
7. If prompted that formatting might not be saved click on Yes.
8. Close the current document (which should now be called newform) by going to
File -> Close .
9. Go to File -> Recent Documents 1: (which should be the just saved
newform.doc) and open it.
Expected results:
Drop-down Item 2 to be in the grey box below Dropdown. Clicking on the grey box
to
show a list of items as follows:
Drop-down Item 2
Drop-down Item 3
Drop-down Item 4
Drop-down Item 5
(Note that the first line is an entry of empty spaces).
Actual results:
Grey box below Dropdown is empty. Clicking on the grey box shows a window which
does not contain any items.
How reproducible is this problem?
It is reproducible every time.
Version information:
openSUSE 10.3
OpenOffice_org-writer-2.3.0.1.2-10.5
(also reproduced on OOo 2.4 from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/SUSE_Linux…
on a different system).

Tasque does not work on the LiveCD. Even if Tasque is installed on a normal
install, it's not always working.
btimothy does not know what's causing this and it's been an issue since it was
released.
We need to drop it from the default patterns and have someone fix it meanwhile.
It fails with this:
Exception in Gtk# callback delegate
Note: Applications can use GLib.ExceptionManager.UnhandledException to handle
the exception.

Can we please split the PackageKit packages so that we have can select to only
install the updater with the default patterns.
I think this is pretty important since we've said that nothing else will be
officially supported, so it should be up to each user if they want to install
the rest as optional components.
