I can test ssaver, I can preview it (small window), but it does not kick in. I set timer to 1 minute, after that time it rather looks like a snapshot of the screen (I mean there is no changes, for example the clock shows the same time). I turned off standby/suspend/poweroff in kpowersave. It didn't help. I turned off KPS. It didn't help. I turned off the same settings in KControl and power management. It didn't help. I stopped powersave daemon, it didn't help. One process used mcrypt to encrypt something using a certain key, and a few seconds later another process failed to decrypt the same string, using the same mcrypt binary on the same box using the same key. The change in algorythm _should_ have been transparent in this case, so this is two bugs. 1) the loss of enigma 2) failed encrypt/decrypt pair uing all same options and key Also, marking packages as taboo in yast doesn't seem to have any effect. Gnome is working ok for the most part. When I tried to use KDE4, nothing really worked. There were big empty areas and no real desktop at all. I didn't even have a way to log out and had to switch virtuals to cycle init levels. But it's important to note that KDE isn't fully installed due to bug 325829. So if there're inter-related some how, this could explain it. Desktop issues aren't in my area of expertise so sorry for the lack of details here. However, to re-produce, I think you can just try using KDE4 on an ia64 box to see the problem. I noticed the f-spot application didn't bring anything up when I clicked on it from the Gnome "start" menu. When I ran it by hand, it seg faulted with a traceback.
