X corruption not going away after init 3; init 5 is a pretty bad sign -- it means something is still wrong there :-(. Hopefully X people can solve it or at least tell us what are we doing wrong? Machine is a Pentium M with a 855GM video adapter. Native resolution is 1280x800, but SaX2 is unable to correctly set the resolution to that setting. I suspect the video bios is not being correctly patched since the status of the boot.videobios is "unknown" but my tinkering has been unable to resolve the problem. 915resolution is installed. The machine was running the RC1 version of 10.2 without this problem until today when I wiped the machine and installed fresh from the DVD. The machine is usable, although the display is somewhat distorted. HAL tries to automount the CD at some point during the boot process, so I don't need to manually run the mount command. Nonetheless, the CD still cannot be mounted and the whole system freezes after a few minutes of trying. It just worked fine 17 times in a row before it happened for the 1st time, but after a reboot, it happened on the 1st attempt already. After another reboot, it worked 4 times so far. After repeating suspend/resume several times (without rebooting in between), I've seen the problem of attachment 110312 again. It's sometimes, but not always happening (with every 3rd or 4th try or so) and it seems to happen irregularly.
