Summary: When Atheros card detected, give a hint about binary
drivers
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Beta 1 plus
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: dominique.leuenberger(a)tmf-group.com
QAContact: jsrain(a)novell.com
When an Atheros card is detected in a notebook, the user needs to install the
madwifi package, which for known reasons are not distributed with openSUSE.
It would be a very nice hint for the user if he could get a small information
about the website http://en.opensuse.org/Atheros_madwifi in this case.
The solution would be somehow similiar to the one used in xine, about video
playing.
If it can not be included in YAST in that short time, at least a comment in the
release notes should make it.

Summary: Missing username/password in $http_proxy and friends

I need to supply username and password for my webproxy. Once set in Yast Proxy
module it's supposed to be exported to http_proxy (and https_proxy, ftp_proxy)
environment variables. Although the proxy hostname and port are exported as
expected the username and password part is missing. I.e. instead of
http_proxy=http://user:password@proxyhost:3128 I get only
http_proxy=http://proxyhost:3128 which is of not much use for programs like
wget. Indeed I set it up manually in .bashrc but I believe it should be done by
Yast for me.

Summary: no localized default bookmarks

We really should solve the bookmark thing anyhow.
The current scheme used to localize our Firefox build doesn't allow to exchange
the default bookmarks according to the locale. That's worse with FF2.0 than
before because on request from the Mozilla Corporation we had to include the
"Latest Headlines" livemark which pulls en-US news instead of localized news.
We would have to start a discussion again with Axel Hecht (l10n lead at
mozilla.com) about that. I'll try to start that the next days.

Component: KDE

Kickoff is not a menu type window. As a result, it behaves as a normal window
instead of a menu, with regard to desktop effects (compiz/xgl).
Also, Kickoff renders with a double-shadow with desktop effects (see attached
screenshot).

mozilla 1.7.8 as shipped with sles9 does not download files (via save link
as...) as 'attachment.cgi', it uses the real filename instead.
konqueror as shipped with SuSE Linux 10.1 saves everything as 'attachment.cgi'.
Maybe konqueror is just bug compatible with firefox.

Summary: Accessing a windows share with Konqueror, login question

When I want to access a share on a windows box that is part of a windows domain
(active directory),I open Knoqueror and enter the path like \\<remote pc>, then
konqueror display smb://<remote pc>é<share name>. then I am prompted to enter
a user name, password valid in the domain. I have noticed that I can only use
mydomain.com\username. Is it possible to also include the username@mydomaincom
method to access a share on a windows box? Because that does not work right now
and it is a convenient to have the same username and domain combination and
validation across systems.

Trying to set the advanced settings of logitech mice in KDE Control Center, the
applet complains about wrong rights.
In documentation "help:/kcontrol/mouse/index.html" there is some information
that the applet needs access to /proc/bus/usb which does not exist in udev.
Instead /dev/bus/usb should be used.

Summary: while changing the first or last name of ldap users, the
cn is not updated
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: YaST2
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: reitenbach(a)rapideye.de
QAContact: jsrain(a)novell.com
As the cn entry in ldap consists of a first name and last name, it should get
updated when the first name or last name of the user is changed.
Many services use the cn, and not the first and last name fields from the ldap
server, and therefore present the "not updated", plain wrong, values.
as far as I can see, the uid is the field to distinguish users, it shouldn't be
a problem to change the cn.
