The reason is probably that the bottom bar "needs" this space. It shows: Beste x Ergebnisse von < werden angezeigt. (Suchvorgang läuft noch) plus the buttons "Vorherige Ergebnisse", "Weitere Ergebnisse", "Einrichten" and "Schließen". I can't reduce the width as long as search results are displayed. To reproduce, search for anything in Kerry while the index is still being build. (Please tell me if you are interested in bug reports with working workarounds like this. Primarily for Windows support, MacOS supports a dual GPT/DOS partition scheme in which a DOS partition table is created that mirrors the GPT partition table as well as possible (at most four primary partitions; no extended partitions possible; first primary partition reserved for EFI). The mixed GPT/DOS partition setup is useful for dual-booting MacOS and Linux: grub (version 1, the only usable version to date) doesn't support GPT partition tables, and relies on a DOS partition table to exist. Parted supports GPT partiton tables, but not the dual GPT/DOS partition scheme. Therefore, whenever parted modifies the GPT partition table, it wipes out the DOS partition table. There is an external tool, gptsync, which creates a dual GPT/DOS partition table from a GPT partition table. This tool can be used to fix things up again after parted. Like in home:rguenther I end up with choices for libgcc, which is provided by libgcc (from Factory or 10.1) and libgcc41 (from gcc41 package) and libgcc42 (from gcc42 package). Consider: libgcc41 Provides: libgcc = 4.1.0 Obsoletes: libgcc < 4.1.0 libgcc42 Provides: libgcc = 4.2.0 Obsoletes: libgcc < 4.2.0 if now libgcc41 is installed and we want to install libgcc42, rpm does not know it needs to deinstall libgcc41, even though libgcc42 obsoletes libgcc. If we know beforehand that libgcc41 exists at the time of packaging libgcc42 this can be worked around by obsoleting libgcc41 as well in libgcc42.
