I have tried in both environments GNOME and KDE ...but same is happening I have two more OS installed on my desktop.On 1 st partition Windows XP,Redhat EL 4 desktop ...My system hardware configuration is Processor:Intel P4 2.8GZ MBD: Via Chipset (VIA800) RAM:512MB (256 x 2) Two 256 mb rams in two slots Monitor:Proview 15" HDD:80 gb Ata IDE I hope there are no problems with hardware bcos the other two OS's work properly. I've added the CPU frequency scaling monitor applet to my panel. Every time the laptop is "idle" the CPU is running at full speed (100%). When performing heavy operations, such as compiling gargnome etc, it goes down to 35%. I've configured the system for maximum performance. After applying libzypp, rug etc. patches I can install all needed updates. So far so good. But, there is update for kernel available, updater, of course, says that updating kernel during installation may break hardware detection etc. so I press "cancel" and kernel is now marked as "won't install". Is that necessary? At least in a default installation, no other package creates a subdirectory in /usr/bin, and /usr/bin is intended for binaries. Maybe the package can place its perl module into an otherwise equally named subdirectory of /usr/lib or /usr/share instead of /usr/bin. Device Information Files" that "merge" for a "strlist" will overwrite the whole list so that I must use "append" to add something. But this seems not to check if the added string is already in the list so that multiple same strings can be added to the same strlist. After some days uptime.. all Virtual Machine are crashing with "unable allocation memory". I would like know if this version 'kernel-xenpae-2.6.5-7.282.i586.rpm' is unstable 100%. because I found in site 'novell' that the Xen-PAE-Enabled does not work correctly. The same happens for mount --bind mounted directories. This means you have to change lots of profiles if you symlink /tmp to /var/roottmp for example. I'd like to see an option to allow symlinks and mount --bind - of course with a well-defined list of allowed symlinks to keep it secure. For example, there could be a global config file with something like Alias /tmp /var/roottmp which basically has the same results as changing the /tmp directory in all profiles, but with less work (which would probably also be less error-prone). (Variables don't really do this job - people can move and symlink nearly every directory.)
