In SuSE 7.0 I don't get any swedish or icelandic symbols in console and I don't
remember how to adjust that.
Can anyone help me out on this?
Thank's,

Hi Helgi,
Go to yast -> Adjustments of Installation-> Select keymap whatever you want The keymap is right as is, swedish keyboard (fi) and I switch to icelandic keyboard layout when needed in GUI.
if you also need to get the console fonts correctted then also go to
That's just it, only in console I don't get swedish or icelandic symbols.
System administarion -> Set console fonts
Is set to: lat1-16.pdfu.gz in /usr/lib/kbd/consolefonts which, according to Mr Tor Sigurdsson, should do it but it doesn't. I still don't get icelandic or swedish symbols in console.
Hope it helps -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@turk.net

Well there are lots of console translation fonts under /usr/lib/kbd/consoletrans you amy want to try one them (the one you are looking for lat2.uni or the iso one for the CONSOLE_SCREENMAP -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@turk.net 100% MS FREE Absolutely no component of Microsoft was used in the generation or posting of this e-mail. Thank's again Togan. What I needed was to put the unicode mapping table for ISO 8859-1 fonts 'iso01' in CONSOLE_SCREENMAP in /etc/rc.config, so now I have swedish and icelandic symbols in text mode. But there are still two problems left to figure out: 1. In a terminal in GUI I still don't have these symbols. 2. How can I switch between two different keymaps in text mode? Now not that I know the answer 100% but this is what I have (I am using turkish which is iso8859-9) A)You have to tell the Xserver your icelendic and and sweedish fonts (in your XF86Config or you can manually do it with xset +fp /mysweedishfonyts/) B)You have to configure your keymap file for the Xserver (use of xkeycaps helped me series xap) The most important have had a look to the sweedish howto and or icelandic howto documents
2. How can I switch between two different keymaps in text mode?
You may have to write a shell script file to change your keyboard driver Hope it helps -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@turk.net 100% MS FREE Absolutely no component of Microsoft was used in the generation or posting of this e-mail. Have you tried the lat1-16.psfu.gz according to the README.psfu file for console switching with unicode this one should be used 8:() -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@turk.net 100% MS FREE Absolutely no component of Microsoft was used in the generation or posting of this e-mail.
