Hi,
since installing SuSE 8.2 a couple of month ago I occassionally experience system freezes when performing certain tasks under X (e.g. watching certain pages with Mozilla, trying to turn off the background image in KDE, etc.). I already played around with the configuration (I attached the current config) but this didn't help. What else can I try? Can I downgrade to the XFree86 from SuSE 8.1?
Felix, Is this a stock install of 8.2? Are you completely up to date? I ask this because the SLE had several emails about freezes and what not. But then a couple weeks ago they released a new package of the X server and I haven't seen any freezing complaints since. I would upgrade if you haven't. If you have then it could be something else. How about a complete list of the hardware in the machine. About the downgrading to 8.1's version. I would advise against it unless you want a who new slew of problems.
