OK, then there should be a redirect page for 11.3 to Portal:11.3. I am only worried that searching for 11.3 return Portal:11.3 as the first result
Done.
I think more redirects could be useful for other titles/names for which exits no article in the main namespace. see: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/community/opensuse-wiki-discussions/44150...
The fact that Denver does not (want to?) understand namespaces is not a good reason for getting rid of them I'm afraid. We are using namespaces for exactly the opposite of your proposal. To seperate content, especially in the search. We want to do that to provide the majority of the wiki users (not everybody!) with the content they are looking for. Which is information about the current openSUSE distribution. Not problem solutions, not meeting logs or team pages or whatnot.
I do not think redirects to portals could do any trouble. But when I did a redirect to an article in the SDB namespace I also made clear in the introduction of this article about the cause of this article being not in the main namespace, see: http://en.opensuse.org/Sax2
Which is not very clever. Why would a reader, for which you create the page, care about namespaces? namespaces are only an important concept for contributors. That page is anyway very broken. Most of the content on the page is not even interesting for consumers, its a wild mix of our templates and half of the stuff on it is not really true. It took me 5 minutes to make an application page out of it. And that is what we need. That is what you and everybody else should do with your time. If you find a page that does not fit with the rules we laid out Portal:Wiki then fix it. If you find a page missing then create it. This is how we get a better wiki!
