After playing around with windows for too long I wanted to install Suse 6.2 and upgrade (via ftp if possible)to 7.0 or 6.4 annyway enough to use kde 2.0. Would it suffice to just use yast, go to suse ftp and upgrade from the 7.0 folder? Or am i thinking to simplistic here.

If i was a rich man dabadabadabadabadabadabada. Annyway buing annything right now is not an option... Rent, 2 little children etc etc....... Anny help on how to upgrade would be verry much appreciated. greets Eelco

Not having a direct answer, I do can offer you some things to check on:
1. You can do a little research upfront. Check with www.whois.net what the official nameservers are. I.c.w. nslookup you can display the external domain layout. It is possible that this deviates from what you might expect. If so, your provider has forgotten some loose ends.
2. Are you using a proxy server on a lan? If so, go and sit on the gateway and see if the behaviour is the same. If the gateway (no proxy) behaviour correct then you probably have a flaw in the proxy configuration.

When I use *any* URL on the new site of the form http://64.77.39.130/registration , the browsers ( Netscape, IE and Opera ) load the page from the old site ie http://www.schoolcircle.com/registration BUT when I use http://64.77.39.130/registration/ ( with the trailing slash ) the correct page from the NEW server is loaded .
Did you configure apache (or whatever http daemon) with the hostname of the server (www.schoolcircle.com)? If you did, when clients ask the server for http://*/register without the trailing slash, the server answers with a 301 or 302 Redirect response to the correct place (http://*/register/ with the trailing slash). as the servername is configured as www.schoolcircle.com it gives the redirect to http://www.schoolcircle.com/registration/ take a look to see if this is the case
Because of this , I am too scared to ask Hostpro to point the DNS of schoolcircle.com to the NEW IP 64.77.39.130 .............
don't think it's necessary :)
The Unix admins at hostpro are at their wits end ...Can anyone explain this strange behaviour ......................? Is it ok for me to ask them to 'flip' the DNS to point to the new server now ?
