<p>Not having a direct answer, I do can offer you some things to check on:
1. You can do a little research upfront. Check with www.whois.net what the
official nameservers are. I.c.w. nslookup you can display the external domain
layout. It is possible that this deviates from what you might expect. If so,
your provider has forgotten some loose ends.
2. Are you using a proxy server on a lan? If so, go and sit on the gateway
and see if the behaviour is the same. If the gateway (no proxy) behaviour
correct then you probably have a flaw in the proxy configuration.
