[opensuse] Opensuse 11.3 KDE not running anymore
Hi, I have OpenSUSE 11.3 with a system that hangs when run in Normal Kernel mode; does not hang in Failsafe mode. In trying to fix that problem I booted with the Kernel with the option nomodeset. As of that boot and another KDE will not run from the KDM4 display manager. I am really stuck with this machine and openSUSE. Help will be greatly appreciated. First question I have is what repos do you have activated on this box and did you do any recent updates? -Matt -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Second question part 1, can you log in to a fresh user account created with yast? Part 2, can you log in to the original user account if you change the session type to icewm or twm? First question I have is what repos do you have activated on this box and did you do any recent updates? I just have the defaults that were installed with the system. I did an update right after installing the system. The Repos are:

No I cannot login to a new user with a KDE session.
Part 2, can you log in to the original user account if you change the session type to icewm or twm?
Yes these both work. In fact I am using ICEWM right now and like it, it is very lean.

1) zypper in --force kdebase4-workspace This will force reinstallation. 2) The only repo listed in previous post that needs autorefresh is Updates. The rest is static, doesn't change, since publishing, so you can speed up zypper and YaST Software Management start quite a bit. 3) Posting style that honors http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mailing_list_netiquette will bring you more answers, as some people just ignore messages that are not in line with netiquette. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
