[SLE] SuSE at LinuxWorld Expo in NY and upgrading
Hi SuSE users, I purchased the boxed version of SuSE 6.2 and have it working perfectly. Got SuSE 6.3 at their booth at the LinuxWorld Expo in NY and installed it without any problems and it too works perfectly. I've been reading this newsgroup about problems upgrading from one version to another and everyone seems to have problems. I think the best way to do an upgrade is to install the newer version in a separate partition as I did and just copy all your config files and applications to the new version and when you have the new version as you want, reformat the old partition and have it ready for the next version. I also did this between SuSE 5.3 and 6.2. I have installed just about every distribution of linux and SuSE is the best. jozien -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Gosh do you sell hard drives. One would have to reserve half their hd for a future version, or old version of Linux, however you want to look at it. If you want Linux for anything other than a plaything that isn't realistic. IMHO Just don't give Bill Gates that idea for Windows installs. Isn't that the purpose of the newsgroup that the people in comfort take some time out to help the people in pain ?? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

As an encouragement to those who do have troubles. I have been with SuSE since 5.3 (from RH 5.0, 5.1,5.2) and was amazed at how easy and problem free SuSE installations have been. It is because those that usually have no problems, or have learned to solve the ones they have encountered, frequent this group to help out and to further their own education. Besides, it sure beats a "how stupid are you?" flame, doesn't it? I did my first upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3. Everything worked perfectly except for apache. I just uninstalled apache and reinstalled. Worked perfectly.
