But I will say this..don't expect SuSE to support them. If your skiddish about updating..wait for the pkgs to appear on suse.com. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--

And do you get anti-aliased fonts? Someone reported that they broke with 3.0.2 due to Qt issues. -- 8:11am up 52 days, 17 min, 1 user, load average: 0.02, 0.03, 0.06

They look fine to me. :) -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--

Ben How did you install them. Uvh --nodeps --force as I think you have suggested for previous new versions of KDE ? Mike

I installed the 8.0 pkgs that way. I download them to a directory such as "KDE-3.0.2" in /tmp then make three directories "apps, base and dev". Then I go in and install dev then base then apps with the switches you see above. I run SuSEconfig after each batch of pkgs. I'm not sure if this has to be done now. But it worked for me with 2.X.X and I stick with it. Under 7.3 which is what I'm still running at home. I do the same thing with the directories but use yast1 to install them. And they were right. The pkgs for 7.3 and below have the AA bit turned off. I emailed Adrian asking him about it. He said there were to many problems with 7.3 and below so he turns it off and will not turn it back on. So I guess it's either use 8.0 or compile the stuff ourselves. I personally use Mutt for email and Mozilla for browsing..so I just enabled freetype in the unix.js for Mozilla and I use Mads favorite font for xterms which is screen. :) -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--

The QT issue is for the 7.3 (and under) packages. 8.0 ones are apparently fine. The build script in the SRC package specifically shuts off this function for <= 7.3. Where is the information on this. I was under the impression this was a QT 2.3.2 issue..not a QT 3.0.4 issue. How could they not have fixed it in that much time between those releases. I'd like to see info on QT 3.0.4. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--
