Hello All, Does any one know why Opera closes down when I call up a java appellet or a page wants to use Java ? Using Opera 9.23 on OpenSuSE 10.3 with all updates. Java is Sun 1.6. -- Kindest regards, Clive http://homepage.ntlworld.com/c.rogers/ Fighting for darker skies. Its been a while since I last touched Opera, but if what was true then still is true now then you have to point Opera to where Java is by hand. How I'm not sure, you may need to look up in their user fourms, after I saw that I pretty much gave up on Opera and stayed with Firefox and Konqueror.

Yes I did this with the following in the Preferences/Content/Java /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0.u1-sun-1.6.0.u1/jre/lib/i386 Still it won't behave and shuts down. -- Kindest regards, Clive http://homepage.ntlworld.com/c.rogers/ Fighting for darker skies. Yes, this is caused by the Xlib.lock issues. You can find out by running opera from a console. To remedy add the following to the end of /etc/profile (as root obviously) # # Enable lock assertion workaround # export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=true Then you'll be good.. Enjoy.. Tried this with the same result of Opera shutting down. -- Kindest regards, Clive http://homepage.ntlworld.com/c.rogers/ Fighting for darker skies. We have released a libxcb online update fixing this issue. Please use and install our online updates, they also help to make your machine more secure. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Thanks Ben, Adding the line "export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=true" to /etc/profile. Logging off and back on again sorted it out. Now I can go to Java pages on the web and not have Opera crash on me. Thanks again. On Wednesday 09 April 2008 09:52:07 Clive Rogers wrote:
