Thanks Ben, Adding the line "export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=true" to /etc/profile. Logging off and back on again sorted it out. Now I can go to Java pages on the web and not have Opera crash on me. Thanks again. On Wednesday 09 April 2008 09:52:07 Clive Rogers wrote:

Hi Ben,
Yes, this is caused by the Xlib.lock issues. You can find out by running opera from a console. To remedy add the following to the end of /etc/profile (as root obviously)
# # Enable lock assertion workaround # export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=true
Then you'll be good..
Enjoy..
Ben
Tried this with the same result of Opera shutting down.
Sorry forgot to include the error message running it from the command line.
opera: xcb_xlib.c:52: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed.
