[opensuse] What are we doing for Tbird 78 - No Enigmail support?
All, There was a warning that appeared in Thunderbird 68 explaining that Enigmail will not work in Thunderbird 78, but that gpg would take its place. However, there seem to be issues with the gpg implementation. I rely on enigmail religiously -- what are we doing to address this? a. stick with 68 as long as possible? b. patch/fix enigmail or gqg so one or the other works as enigmail does now? -- David C. I'd say lets stick with TB 68.x ESR until the gpg integration in TB78 actually works, but then we should switch to TB78 - enigmail's not likely to see any further development, I'd think... but DEFINITELY stick with TB68 until then. On windows I already got TB78 forced on my (by my own stupidity, to boot), and not being able to use GPG sucks - enigmail is still there but dead, and the built in gpg support pretends to be there and is dead as well. You can sign, but not encrypt...
b. patch/fix enigmail or gqg so one or the other works as enigmail does now?
I have no idea if that is even possible... Option b is unrealistic. The only way forward is implementing required features in TB, what Mozilla is already (slowly) doing. I'd stick with 68 until the new implementation works with gpg smartcards, like Yubikey, which I'm using.

It seems to me that version 78 is not yet a finished product. No enigmail, but openPGP support incomplete, for instance.
