Sometimes it takes some searching and experimenting to nail down the printer. The openprinting.org site is terrific for locating print drivers/info, it indicates that the WP-4530 driver is epson-201113w. Check to see if YaST recognizes that, but I suspect you may need to install the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr package first. The Epson site indicates your printer is supported under Linux, and it has an .rpm you can download/install but it is much better to get it through YaST.

I have a really nice Epson WP-4530, which works perfectly, has good long-life ink, and does everything, including color, two-side printing, FAX, scan, and copy and has usable manual controls for scanning, FAX, etc., as well as being usable from the computer in Linux or Windows. cockamamie?? linux has been that way forever. and you ran/run linux. much study needed on your part.

using "rpm", you can install the file from where it is on your system, ie: where you put it.

How does one install something thru YAST? Is there a list, and if so, how do I access it? Simple way: start up yast. Choose "Software Management". Follow your nose :-) There is a search button there. Don't worry about installing epson things yet. However, if you search for "epson" you will at least see one package: epson-inkjet-printer-escpr - Epson ESC/P-R Inkjet Printer Driver

Well, I don't use "return" till end of paragraph. I let it automatically format the paragraph. It is better at that than me. Also, this allows the mail to reflow at the recipient size regardless of his screen size.

If you need instructions for how to install directly an rpm, there are several ways. One is directly with the rpm command. It doesn't matter where it is. Another is to create a local repository. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. YaST should be on the apps menu, under System. You can also run "yast2" (not "yast") from the command line (as root). "Software Management" is very similar to Synaptic (but YaST is more comprehensive IIRC). If you input "epson" in the search bar to left, it will return the package ref'd above. Also note the search option "RPM Provides" which searches for a filename within an uninstalled package and "File list" which does the same for installed packages. The information box below for each package shows more details. To see all packages in each configured repo and all of which are installed, use the "Repositories" tab at top and then the lists displayed. Installing an rpm via the command line is now done with zypper (the CLI equiv to YaST gui). Doesn't matter where the rpm file is located, once installed it can be deleted. But do try to get the driver via YaST/zypper - it is very likely in the opensuse repo. --dg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You can select as much or as little as you wish using checkboxes and/or search strings and/or different looks on the different available tabs. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science. I think you are creating your own problems. Editors work the way editors work. Some have automatic line wrap, you can set that in Thunderbird's edit if you choose. Word processors work the same way. They differentiate between 'hard' returns, which mean new paragraph, and 'soft' returns which merely mean new line. As the help page referenced mentions: The Thunderbird composition window now functions more like a word processor in that pressing the "Enter" key inserts a new paragraph, pressing "Shift+Enter" inserts a new line. The convention in many, from vim though kate, is that like spacing and paragraph spacing is configurable. if you go to configuration => advanced => config editor then you will find the complete list of everything about Thunderbird that can possibly be configured[1]. It's an incredible playground and unless you have at least three clues about that you're doing then you will mess up, but, hey, isn't that the fun in learning by experimentation? Just make sure you either have a backup or an otherwise reversible change. Try searching for 'wrap'. [1] Well, almost. Adding extensions or plugins creates more. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
