Sometimes it takes some searching and experimenting to nail down the printer. The openprinting.org site is terrific for locating print drivers/info, it indicates that the WP-4530 driver is epson-201113w. Check to see if YaST recognizes that, but I suspect you may need to install the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr package first. The Epson site indicates your printer is supported under Linux, and it has an .rpm you can download/install but it is much better to get it through YaST.

I am used to Synaptic, which provides a list of everything in the repo and you can then select it and apply the install of all selections. If there is no list, how do you know what's available? And then what is the process of installing, say, "epson-inkjet-printer-escpr"? I see that I can keep this app from double spacing by not using a carriage return at the end of the line. What a cockamamie system. Anyway, I seem to have a couple of mails open at the same time, so if I'm doubling up on questions/answers, I apologize. If I get an rpm from Epson, I would normally install it using the rpm command, but then the file would be in the download directory, and it probably needs to be somewhere else. Where? And yes, I agree with your Epson-using friend.
And there is this remark in a post from one of the guys on this list (via google) . . .
I have a really nice Epson WP-4530, which works perfectly, has good long-life ink, and does everything, including color, two-side printing, FAX, scan, and copy and has usable manual controls for scanning, FAX, etc., as well as being usable from the computer in Linux or Windows.
Also btw, you might also want to check forums.opensuse.org. Installation questions are dealt with there all the time (this list certainly has equal if not more expertise, but the topics tend to be more intermediate/advanced).
Will check that out. Thanx! --doug
