Hi All, Is it possible to setup a full desktop login to a remote machine with KDE? Specifically, having two machines (audio and scooby) is it possible to log into music@audio from the kdm login screen on scooby in the same way as I can for a user local to scooby - so that KDE itself is running on audio but displaying on scooby... I hope that's clear :/ I'm not thinking about being able to run individual apps via ssh -X, but the whole desktop. Cheers Dylan -- "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" -Dark Helmet

X :2 -query audio vt09& Check you have the following set /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager:DISPLAYMANAGER_REMOTE_ACCESS="yes" /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager:DISPLAYMANAGER_ROOT_LOGIN_REMOTE="yes" Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====

Cheers, Sid! This is great - a lot better than having to ssh -X each app. Now, this starts the kdm login on audio and displays it on scooby's X server ... so far so good. Is it possible to organise for the following: In the kdm login on scooby, if I log in as dylan then the desktop runs on scooby, but if I log in as music the desktop runs on audio and displays on scooby? (all home directories are nfs shared and automounted, and user IDs are distributed over NIS.) Cheers Dylan

You need to change some files more: /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc Set true here: [Xdmcp] Enable=true Willing=/etc/X11/xdm/Xwilling Xaccess=/etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess After: /etc/X11/xdm Edit: Xaccess Cheack that you have * for all host and in xdm-config Set this: DisplayManager.requestPort: 177 Rstart the X Server (remember modify too the /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager) In te another computer: X :1 -query ip-address (for CTRL F8), if you don't have a X Client in this computer, you can use: X -query ip-address Bye bye -- ------------------------------------------------------ Una prensa libre es el gran enemigo de los dictadores.
