[opensuse] IMAPS over IPv6
I've tried connecting to my mail server via IPv6. While it works fine when connecting from the computer the server is running on, I cannot connect from another computer via IPv6. It works fine using IPv4 from any computer. As I understand it, I may have to make a change in /etc/xinetd.d/imap, but I'm not sure exactly what. Any ideas? Changing flags = IPv4 to IPv6 does not appear to work. BTW, I'm using the WU imap server on OpenSUSE 11.0. tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Find out what your mail server is listening on - netstat will tell you. It's odd that you can connect locally but not remotely - that sounds like a firewall issue.

The obvious thing is to have xinetd listen for both ipv4 and ipv6, but when you're connecting locally, it must be doing that already (unless you didn't connect using ipv6 when you tried locally?) -- Per Jessen, Zürich (14.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I seem to recall a similar issue with IPv4 when I first started running IMAP, but forgot the details. There's no firewall running on the local computers, only on the firewall box.

Yes, I'm using IPv6 on the local box. I use a different name in the hosts file that points to the IPv6 address. It works with both the link and global IPv6 addresses. I had mentioned xinetd.d/imap in my original message, but I don't know how to configure it for IPv6. I have seen some suggestions, but nothing I've tried worked. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Check to see if this ipam daemon is listening on the Global Link address, not only on the Local Link. Theo -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
