This is not correct. It is correct that opensuse does not support software installed from third parties, but software installed by cpan is supported by the CPAN authors & maintainers. See below about integrity. It is not correct that installing from CPAN might clobber your system. The design of perl prevents third-party installations from clobbering that used by the host system. It is installed in a different place. It is also possible to install multiple versions of perl and/or modules on a system quite happily and manage them.
this particular package is in the build service, https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/devel:languages:perl:CPAN-E/perl-Ema..., however it's not in the main d:l:perl repo and if you like it included you should "copypac it from here and then submit it to devel:languages:perl".
Personally I always install perl modules from CPAN because everything is available from CPAN and I don't have to worry about obsolete versions or missing modules etc. I don't have to worry about differences between opensuse and redhat, for example.
and is there a posibility to uninstall with cpan and check what files are all generated/changed?
Yes, you can uninstall modules from CPAN. I would recommend using cpanm rather than cpan to perform installs, see https://metacpan.org/pod/release/MIYAGAWA/App-cpanminus-1.7044/bin/cpanm which also details many other options to check integrity, examine code before installation etc etc.
and or did anybody know another tool (from suse repo) which will open *.msg files?
Sorry, never used outlook.
thanks,

Hmm, can you hear my spurs jangling? I typically use it as root, for convenience, but that's very bad for security risk (no risk of clobbering the system though). Perhaps I like living dangerously :) If I need more than one version of perl, then I'll typically use perlbrew as a normal user. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
