Yes, you can uninstall modules from CPAN. I would recommend using cpanm rather than cpan to perform installs, see

which also details many other options to check integrity, examine code before installation etc etc.
did you prefer using cpanm as root, or user ?
Hmm, can you hear my spurs jangling? I typically use it as root, for convenience, but that's very bad for security risk (no risk of clobbering the system though).
